The Review for Gold Gear, Heros, Uniforms and Loot in Playdom’s Marvel Avengers Alliance Game for Facebook and Playdom.com

Marvel Avengers Alliance: Gold Gear: Omni-Fury

Omni-Fury

After four weeks of uninspired, limited edition crap, Playdom is recycling an old, Gold-buy favorite: The Omni Fury.

The Omni Fury does decent damage to un-debuffed opponents and nice damage to the debuffed opponent.

Get out your credit card.

Marvel Avengers Alliance: Gold Gear: Omni-Fury

Is it worth 64 Gold?

If anything is worth 64 Gold (a question to be pondered, indeed), the Omni-Fury is a worthwhile buy. If you’re tired of the GSE, this is a temporary substitute. Those who play Scarlet Witch in PVP are going to love the Omni-Fury.

The power setting, like most Gold Gear, is set to your level. So this joyride, like any gold-paid joyride, is only good for two weeks.

I would have liked to see some more special effects when it is used. Sometimes (most times), you can’t have your cake and eat it too.

Hero School Valuation:
64 (Sixty Four) Gold

It’s not easy to say something is worth 64 Gold. Because, deep down, I think that worthwhile gold gear should be priced around 40 Gold. It should have to be Epic if it’s going to cost 64 Gold. But them’s the breaks.

Playdom-Disney may never change it’s evil ways. Some of us always knew Mickey-Mouse was mafioso. Capiche?! [grin]

What would have made Omni-Fury, epic? A splash of Intimidation – hitting all opponents. Because fury is scary like that, baby!

Marvel Avengers Alliance: Gold Gear: Crystal Shiv Stats

Crystal Shiv

How can something look so cool and be so totally worthless?! That’s the shiv!

Counter-Attack is always a temptation. And Pressure Points could have been icing on the cake. Emphasis on could have been.

Playdom could have hit a home run with this week’s Gold gear. But, Im sorry to say, this is not the case.

The Hero School Review: Gold Gear: Crystal Shiv

Is it worth 64 Gold?

Pinkbunnies… no!

Out of 36 attacks (not battles) on the agent, the Crystal Shiv did not Counter Attack once. Doh!

Out of 24 hits made with the Crystal Shiv, it proc’d Pressure Points, twice. [sigh]

From the same 24 hits, it crit’d only twice. Talk about pitiful…

You do the math.

Hero School Valuation:
2 (Two) Gold

The Crystal Shiv is nothing more than an over-priced PVP bonus item.

For 64 Gold, it should have had a counter attack and proc rate of 50 to 70%. And some other things.

Damage could be raised by 10 to 15%.

Playdom-Disney could fix this, but they won’t. Because that would be admitting that they make mistakes. And nobody likes to admit that they make mistakes – even though we all make mistakes every so often.

Marvel Avengers Alliance: PVP Team

Enlightenment

Spiderman’s psychosexual Future Foundation (FF) uniform is still bugged. Invisible Woman’s FF Uniform provokes mixed feelings. Nonetheless, Invisible Woman is the new PVP rockstar – Force Cage rocks and everybody knows it. Or they know now!

Meanwhile, everyone is waiting for Chapter 9 and they have high expectations that it’s a chapter that won’t be 5 starred in a week or less.

Will Playdom-Disney disappoint us? Again?

The Hero School Review: Force Cage

Force Cage

Nothing is more satisying and more LOL than when Invisible Woman Force Cages an agent that will whip out Power of Four and burn out. But that’s not all Force Cage is good for. It also makes Captain beatable.

Force Cage adds some balance to the very problematic PVP scene.

Invisible Woman’s Future Foundation Uniform

Most feel the Future Foundation Uniform doesn’t give any kind of badassery to Invisible Woman.

Reactive Shields? What were they thinking? They need to rethink Reactive Shield. I suggest a Reactive Shield causes Dizzy and Blindness to the attacker. If you need a shield, farm a Magnetic Field Generator like everyone does.

Invisibility is not allowing Invisible Woman to evade as often as Scarlet Witch. That’s a bug that needs to be fixed.

Additional Gear Slots

Four items are not enough for the 100+ crowd. So here’s how Playdom-Disney can bump the bottom line. Up! They offer four more gear slots for increasing amounts of Gold.

Of course, you have to give the non-Gold buyers a bone too.

Here’s what I’m thinking:

Fifth Slot – Level 100 Requirement and 500,000 Silver
Sixth Slot – Level 150 Requirement and 100 Gold
Seventh Slot- Level 200 Requirement and 200 Gold
Eight Slot – Level 250 Requirement and 500 Gold

Exploits

Unintended glitches happen and may make gear better than intended by Playdom-Disney. If you discover an uber exploit that will make us all think twice about a seemingly unwise purchase, please let us know in the comments.

The word is that next week is the A x X spec op. SO we won’t get chapter 9 until it is finshed.

  2. Stan, great blog. I was wondering if you have any tips in regards to deploy drops. Seems like they keep chumping me lately. Also, how beneficial to gameplay is pvp, in your opinion? Im level 66 currently and never really played it.

    Thanks – Agent H

Thanks for your kind words, Agent Harding.

Deploy drops are determined, in part, by where you are in your research. If you are researching Stunner II, for example, you’ll find Stunner III as a possible deploy reward.

Regarding PVP, I have mixed feelings. Playdom-Disney hasn’t worked out all the kinks. Cheaters have not been totally eliminated from the PVP schedule.

And yet, if you can make it to the top 100, you will have a very fine understanding of who are the best heroes right now, hero skills, and gear. If you can make it to the top 10 without cheats, your opinion and advice about these things is worth more than two cents.

And I don’t just say that because I was No. 1 for season 1 and 2 and No. 3 for season 3 on playdom.com. [grin]
