Right on, Jason. Myself, I sometimes worry that memes can be as dangerous as they can be funny. Their use of parody or their embrace of self-defeat can present powerful irrational opposition to common sense, intelligence, insight, and concrete human experience.

As a fan of both MAA and this blog community I find the type of disgusting “fanfare” mentioned in this post disheartening. Understand, I am someone who enjoys offbeat humor, but the memes that were posted by that creep were not only completely unfunny, but almost come across as legitimate pedophilia endorsement. I encourage anyone who comes across this sort of thing to report it to Playdom.

Well, I was contemplating whether to comment or not, but ,whatever, here we go.
It is hard for me and my cynicism (It is screaming at me as I’m writing), but I have to support you in your contempt of such activities and personalities.Actually I’m not one to judge – I’m just trying to live in the world and try to make it a better place and seldom notice such people. The point is… they are not monsters.. they are people, and it makes them much worse. They are boring, annoying people, that find it worthwhile to make other people feel bad.
Here, I think I found it. The problem is not the fact that they are interested in some things or some others, or just what they do post…I don’t think most of them even care about content of pictures and citations they post – it is just trend, popular hyperlinks of emptiness.
Much worse is the fact that such people do not bother trying to notice other people around them, do not care about them. It is just a really annoying, boring and immature form of egoticism.

For some more time, I can try to understand such people
( it is a personal quirk, trying to understand everyone, also, don’t have children yet, so it is not as personal), but…
It is really a shame, that such behavior is not moderated – it really lowers overall quality level of most communities.
Because silly adult jokes should belong where they do belong, as surely as most of us do like to hear clean, beautiful speech, not constant swearing and faulty simplicity. And such texts clearly belong not to pubic forums, they are tolerated (sometimes) in friendly corvesations, can be placed in specian “message-” and “image-” boards, where person knows what he is expecting.
As I already said, it is not a problem of content, but a problem of behavior(in my quite humble opinion)

Actually, sorry for me ranting, as your post made me contemplate for a while, with me pointing all directions at the same time. It is hard to post anything , when at the end of some statement, thought, logical construct, you just take it and point something, and then just reverse all this wibbly-wobbly stuff in other direction. But, it seem, thankfully at the end of ranting I really managed to find an end of this thought.
Whatever, sometimes you just to end the line.

Again, sorry for a useless line of text, thanks for making me think, and good luck for you and your close ones, also good luck in trying to make Playdom a better place to be.
