WTF?! Stop lieing to you. And other social media DOHs! 5 Minute Therapy

June 30, 2011

Do you have true feelings about anything?

I am waiting. I am ever waiting to bring the world to the perfection that is longed for in hope, joy, and possibility.

Do you feel the same as I do?

Enigma, Return to Innocence

I await for greater forces (men, women or otherwise) of greater prudence, courage, self-control, justice and faith. I await their direction, their demonstrations, and crowd-roaring triumphs over impossibilities, danger, and humiliation.

I am waiting to do amazing things – more amazing than I can begin to understand or imagine. Because within me are beautiful, true, and good things. They move with such precision, certainty, and counterpoint. Like the heavens. Like celestial perfection. Like a clockwork of stars and galaxies.

I am not alone

I am not alone in these anticipations and aspirations.

And you are not alone in yours.

There is untested strength, courage, and beauty in our common will. So much unrevealed awesome in our common destiny.

Wait for no one

We need begin for the hour is late. We have lost ourselves in useless distractions. We have uselessly agonized over our unfulfillment.

We do not need more things. You. Me. We need less emptiness in our hearts. We need less dishonesty. With ourselves. With others.

We need to sanctify ourselves in love. Because we are nothing – if we, ourselves, are not love. Because love is, has always been, and will always be – what we are. Wait for no one!

Do I deceive myself when I allow myself to feel my deep hunger for love? Do you?

Has not love been everything for me- when I allowed myself to feel truly the things that I feel? You?

And yet, nothing I could do would purchase it and my happiness. With one single exception- love.

Consequences

Do you feel the same?

Or, maybe, my words fail to sue for peace against the armed gates of your heart. Maybe, the walls of your heart are proud and tall like the walls of Troy.

I am of no consequence to you. I do not pretend to have wisdom for you. But who are you?

You, yourself, are of consequence to you. This is indisputable. And your emptiness longs to be filled with joy. With you. With love.

Just as my emptiness must be filled with love.

And, quite possibly, we shall find joy together. In love. With love. Through love. In the unity of our common will and destiny to be ourselves truly and completely.

Together, we can be the change that we want to see in our world.

If you can do one thing just for you today… allow yourself to feel everything as you watch this short, uplifting video:

Engage a person. And other social media dohs! 5 minute therapy.

June 23, 2011

You’re not alone.

Open your mind. Surely, it’s plain to see…

If you are going to get anything out of this blog post, you’ll need to say it with me:

I’m not alone.

Stop!

Say it with your mouth. If you can do it without disturbing the peace, say it loudly.

I’m not alone.

If you are too proud to say with your mouth, you’re never going to get social media. Or life. Or love! That’s just the way it is.

Last chance to save your soul…

I’m not alone.

Open your heart.

Let love penetrate. Trust me on this for five minutes. Because I don’t want your money. Buy yourself something nice. Or give it to a worthwhile cause.

Here’s some music – if you need a little help. Pump up the volume. You can read on while you listen to the music.

ATB – You’re Not Alone

Less than an hour ago, I received a tweet from Jessica Northey:

@Faryna I love your profile pic/avi! it’s gorgeous! also the love the photo on your blog. Is that your son?? he’s sooooo cute!!! 🙂 xo

I replied:

@JessicaNorthey Jessica: Wow! You know how to engage. I can think of no better first tweet engagement than yours just now.

And I meant exactly what I said. I also followed up with two more tweets:

@JessicaNorthey Here’s a pic of me and my son, Johnny http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=450901373414&set=t.704673414&type=1&theater

@JessicaNorthey Just read your About on fingercandymedia.com. You are amazing. How do you do it all?! Do you sleep? <smile>

This is a beautiful start to engagement. It is an encounter of two hearts – and minds and whole persons. Curiosity, excitement, encouragement… and lots of other good stuff. It’s all there.

How do you engage?

Engagement happens when you understand that you are not alone and you honor the others that share this world with you. Because the ideas, insights, or inspirations shared through social media come from real people. Sometimes.

Engagement can not be counted in the number of tweets, retweets, page views, referrals, shares, likes, etc. Because in true engagement, we don’t know where it ends. It can also transcend time and space.

What about those real people out there? In life as in social media, people are the bottom line as much as you are the bottom line.

Yes, you are the bottom line of amazing. Don’t you forget that!

J. Alfred Prufrock, Zeldman, blogging, and I still haven’t found what I’m looking for

June 16, 2011

Bloggers come and go in the land Oz; talking about a Midsummer Santa Claus

If you didn’t peak in high school, there was the consolation (myth?) that you’ll rock it (find happiness) later on.

Listening to The Big Web Show #49 at 5by5.tv/bigwebshow/49, I had to chuckle when Jeffrey Zeldman whines to Dan Benjamin about how “popularity” drives us now more than ever. Today, if your blog post doesn’t get picked up by techmeme, Google, or Ashton Kusher (@aplusk), you just won’t feel really good about what you’re doing.

“Popularity matters profoundly,” Zeldman bemoans. Popularity – not quality, Zeldman argues, is what determines your happiness because the advertisers, sponsors, and opportunities go almost exclusively to the winners of the popularity contest. Niche, in other words, should be awesome when you own it. But, frankly, as Zeldman and Benjamin admit, niche just doesn’t play out to our expectations. It doesn’t pay either.

Maddy had a brilliant idea to come up with some of the family pictures that Max finds in her room in Chapter 1.10. I loved Maddy’s idea at the first mention. Thanks Maddy! You rock!

Excerpt

“I love you, Teddy!” Violeta said and gave Teddy a big hug.

“I love you too,” replied Teddy.

On the way to the bathroom, Max noticed that the twelve small, framed pictures on the wall were pictures that she had put out to trash with Teddy almost a year ago. She smiled. She wished she could give John’s father a hug and a kiss.

“You’re my angel!” she said to him in her thoughts. “My perfect angel from God!”
