Best Facebook Game Yet

Marvel: Avengers Alliance is a turn-based social game on Facebook featuring dozens of the most legendary of comic book superheroes including Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Thor, The Invisible Woman, Wolverine, Ms. Marvel, and many more. From deep space, a great pulse of energy slams into the Earth. As an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D, you will recruit superheroes, send your heroes on missions, research technologies you to need for the fights, stop the bad guys and their evil schemes, and save Manhattan (and the world) from destruction.

This walk through, guide, cheats or whatever you want to call it should help you get from level 0 to 10 without pain or SSOF (Slapping Self On Forehead). Like my Facebook Fan Page and I can keep you updated on the game guides I write and the Facebook games I play.

College, Parents, Money and Kids: #Dadchat RECAP

May 14, 2012

WHO KNEW that college could be so traumatic – to parents!

This #DadChat RECAP also appeared last week on Bruce Sallan’s blog.

How do parents pay for a kid (or more) to go to college when a four year degree costs as much as a house? As it is, one in three American families is financially challenged by rent or mortgage.

Will the kids get an education that provides life-long competitive advantages or just literacy and a long term debt load on student loans? The world is amidst great change – whole economies too.

What happens if your kid drops out? Or, yikes, what if your kid doesn’t want to go to college. It might work out for little Bobby or Sue, but can you live with that as a parent? Without an ulcer?

All you ever wanted to know about social games: Go Fishing

by Stan Faryna

Fishers of Men [and Women]

Before I get into my walk-through of Go Fishing, the Facebook game, I have to say that Go Fishing reminds me of the social media game where real people hope to… catch followers, fans, and friends AND become influential to those real people. The waiting for fish to bite, trying new bait, hooks, lines and equipment, it’s a powerful metaphor for what millions of people are doing in social. Some will figure out the cheats, others will apply mad hours to social, and most people just give up – eventually. If you get on the leader board of social, however, there may be a pot of real cash on the other side of the rainbow. It makes me wonder why more people aren’t doing social.

Social is as good a time sink as any Facebook game. Right? [grin]

Henry David Thoreau wrote:

Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.

There is truth here to reflect upon. For the “Go Fishing” fisherman, fishers of men, and social media fans.

What super powers did you want? #IAmDisabled

May 9, 2012

Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons.

– Matthew 10:8

When I was a kid, there were several comic book superheroes at the top of my list: The Mighty Thor, Dr. Strange, Superman, and Spiderman. I even tried to fly – more than once. I had the mistaken assumption that all you had to do was believe. I ran and leapt from the roof of our house.

But I did not fly. [grin]

Five For Fighting, Superman

My intention, however, is not to write about super powers. I’m writing to show my support for Nisha Varghese’s campaign against discrimination. I’m showing up. Because that’s what friends do.

Writes Nisha:

I believe that if we make people understand that we are all the same, discrimination would be a thing of the past.

Nisha reminds us that we are all “disabled” – we all have things we wish we could do, but can’t.

Here’s three things I can’t do, but I wish I could:

1. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, and cast out demons.

2. Lift up the hearts of the poor in spirit, those who mourn, hunger and thirst, and those who suffer.

3. Have frequent conversations with God, walk in Beauty, and, yes, to love – strongly, fearlessly and unabashedly.

If you would like to help Nisha in her latest endeavor to do good and change the world for the better, write a related blog post with #IAmDisabled in the title and make a direct link to her blog post about the same:

Car Town

Car Town is a Facebook game about customizing and building your garage (service shop), hiring friends, racing cars, pimping your rides, and lots more. This is a game mostly for the guys- but not just the guys. According to Sean Hawes, Cie may soon expand Car Town into a multi-world game.

Services, races, etc. give experience and in game coin. More friends, higher levels, and more coin will allow you to unlock better paying jobs, better cars, garage expansions, and more.
