Marvel Avengers Alliance: Gold Gear: Transcranial Simulator

Transcranial Stimulator

The Post Level 120 crowd are always looking for a better weapon. The Transcranial Stimulator is not it.

The best thing about the Transcranial Stimulator is that it offers some protection against Psychic attacks such as Emma’s Mental Anguish. I was about to mention the Rook or SkullRipper, but then no one uses them.

The Transcranial Stimulator follows in the footsteps of suck like most other weapons that do psychic attack. What’s up with that?

Is it worth 64 Gold?

No. Mostly, because the damage is limp and it crits rarely.

Worst of all, the PVP bonuses of the Transcranial Stimulator are lackluster. The minimum total PVP bonuses for a 64 Gold Purchase needs to be 525/525. That’s a minimum!

The Transcranial Simulator also appears to be easily dodged by Captain America’s Shield Guard and anyone socketed with Type IV Iso-8 crystals.

Hero School Valuation:
12 (Twelve) Gold

Quick Action would have helped make this a better seller. Lots of people like Quick Action – regardless of the value. But Quick Action would not have been enough to close the deal and make killer agents quick draw their credit cards.

Dizzy (Accuracy reduced by -118) and Nose Bleed (same as Bleed) as a splash effect on all enemies  would have made this a nice toy for the one or two weeks – the period for which any customized weapon is effective.

Stimulated Mind needs to raise all stats by 20 or more points (each). Because a stimulated mind is stimulating!

All of the upgrades described above would make the Transcranial Stimulator that disposable toy worth 64 Gold.

Unless Playdom-Disney makes the quick upgrades (as I described above), Transcranial Stimulators are only going to sell to testers and suckers.

Marvel Avengers Alliance: Gold Gear: Techno Organic Endoskeleton

Techno-Organic Endoskeleton

New Players (noobs) with disposable income went to get killer fast, but the Techno-Organic Endoskeleton is not going to help.

Personally, combos don’t excite me much. Not unless the combo includes two happy endings. [grin]

The name, Techno-Organic Endoskeleton, sounds killer. But the stats do not seem well matched to the name.

Is it worth 64 Gold?

Nope.

The combo thing locks you into a handful of heroes that you may (or may not) have – none of which are the beasts of the game such as Captain America, Scarlet Witch, Spiderman, Thor, Hulk or Gambit.

Hero School Valuation:
12 (Twelve) Gold

When I think of what Techno-Organic Endoskeleton should mean to us, I think of offensive and defensive enhancements.

Guaranteed Hit and Ignore Defense. But that’s not all.

Negative Static Charge and Poison comes to mind and I start to smile.

The cherry on top would be a passive Defense boost of 25 points.

Marvel Avengers Alliance: Boss Rewards: Re-Roulette

Enlightenment

Spiderman FF Uniform

The Spiderman FF Uniform bug continues to plague spiderman fans for the second week. Future Countdown does not activate if Spiderman’s passive, Tinging Sensation (Share the Future buff), is activated after another Future Foundation hero’s group buff, Share the Future, is activated.

Was Gambit Nerfed?

There are rumors that Gambit’s hits and crits are doing slightly lower damage this week. That would be a shame, indeed.

5 Gold for Re-Roulette (Boss and Epic Boss Rewards)

Several players put the re-roulette to the test and the average spend was 40 gold to get a desired loot (reward) from re-roulette. That’s the average – it’s not a guarantee.

The two worst outcomes of the test were 80 gold each for each Destroyer Power Relic. The best outcome was 15 Gold for two Magnetic Field Generators.

Black Panther considered for retirement

Theoretically, Distress Calls are all about getting a little help in a tough situation. Then, Black Panther shows up with his vibranium shoe shine kit. And he buffs wingtips. It’s a pity. It could be racism too. Really.

Customized Gear Reset

I’d pay 40 Gold to reset some of my Gold and other Gear. And so would others. Wouldn’t you?

A permanent feature in the store to reset customized Gold Gear will make more money than bad ideas like the Transcranial Stimulator. That’s a guaranteed hit!

Exploits

Unintended glitches happen and may make gear better than intended by Playdom-Disney. If you discover an uber exploit that will make us all think twice about a seemingly unwise purchase, please let us know in the comments.

  1. Good feedback, and GREAT idea on the reset for Customized Items, I’d love to upgrade my Coulson’s Revenge! Keep the idea-mill pumping! 😀

  2. Tony Stark says:

The Transcranial Stimulator originally has a debuff called “Psychic Lockout” which blocks any psychic attack from an enemy for three rounds. For example, if Emma Frost is hit by the weapon, she would not be able to use Psychic Tap and Mental Trauma for the next three rounds. They pulled that version of TS out of Store in less than 30 minutes and replaced it with this piss-poor version.
