Blog Soup

If you don’t know about the epics of blog soup, a deliciously OP (Over Powered) explanation follows.

The comments below represent comments that I posted and those that failed to post to the websites, blogs, videos and streams that I visited. On occasion, they may represent Tweets, Replies, or Comments made on Facebook and other Social Media networks. Not everyone will appreciate the comments made to their post (I rarely suck up, brown nose or gush), but hopefully they’ll forgive me any offense (real or imagined) and, yes, they should absolutely love the rank-link juice to blog and Twitter. This is not a noob’s blog and some have even said that my seo game is fierce as it is sweet.

More about blog soup at the end of this post.

Google Goes Social. So What?

Eugene Farber says Google Plus is still a dead end as a community platform. And he’s right.

My Comment

Bojan was wrong. Jens Berget and Eugene were right. Dare I eat a peach? Even Stan was right to not comment on the obvious. [laughing]
Google proved itself disingenuous (yet again) by decommissioning the “Author” meta data/perk. Regardless of the fact that most people didn’t know how to use it, misused it, or used it wrong.
Google Plus communities feel (and continue to feel) just like preference check boxes than communities. I don’t believe membership and community posting significantly contributes to Google’s own interests in customer targeting. Or improving search.
Google Hangouts lack a dynamic platform for public and scalable outreach, interaction and transaction. With all it’s problems, Twitch is more useful for creating a “free” live community experience than Google Hangouts.
No one has time to actively manage and monitor five social platforms and have a life (professional, personal or otherwise). Even three is pushing it for the savvy netizen. Clever and not so clever people have better things to do.
Questions, suspicions and LOLs surround anyone who is gulping down the purple social kool-aid without divine mission, vision and obvious compensation.

Are You Endangering The Peace On Earth

Blog post – Vinay Kachhara, a blogger on Aha Now, is optimistic that Peace is possible.

My comment

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Matthew 5:9
Certainly, we should desire, hope, and work for peace – for peace speaks to the transcendental, unity, and in unity we will also further know and experience beauty, goodness and truth as Aristotle suggests.
Secular positivity, however, may not be sufficient to overcome conflict of interest, unrestrained ambition and outrageous fortune. Nor do I believe that individual happiness translates to greater sympathy, compassion and our own individual consideration of the happiness, hopes and rights of others.
Individual happiness is subjective and problematic. An individual may take pleasure in violence, murder, rape, confusion, chaos, or exploitation of others.
Love is necessary. Not erotic, selfish, self-pleasing love, but a transcendental love that demands much self-restraint and self-discipline and certain self-denial.
But why and how shall we deny the feelings and impulses that we feel? Is that not a rejection of our true selves?
No, our feelings and impulses do not fully represent our true self. Nor are all our desires, good. Nor are all the desires experienced in others.
We must tend the gardens of our souls, tear out the weeds by their roots, and nurture fragrant and glorious virtues. And these gardens of souls shall become more beautiful, more lovely in time – not overnight. This demands much patience.
Love (charitas) demands us to suffer patiently, forgive, reconcile, and repent. And to repent means to admit our own wrong doing and evil in what we have done, what we have imagined, and what we have failed to do.
This is why peace seems an impossible prize. In our hearts and out there in the world. Because few have the courage to Love truly and to live out that Love.

Chapter 1 of William Howser‘s FrequenZ

Audio drama – Matt Bradford reads the journal entry of Eddie Rotten in William Howser’s zombie story, FrequenZ.

My Comment

I don’t like the name, Eddie Rotten. Not for a mild-mannered family man. But I will suspect the name wants to suggest that the mild-mannered family man will be transformed into a cold, calculating monster by the horror of a zombie apocalypse. The suspense begins to build.

Continuing Your Success on Indiegogo

Indiegogo launched a new pilot program that allows campaigners to continue raising money even after their campaign deadline.

My comment

Kickstarter has a real problem – the whimsical nature of Kickstarter’s crowdfunding model cannot compete with a serious business model that truly supports entrepreneurs who face massive challenges in making exciting dreams happen. Indiegogo’s commitment to the entrepreneur is going deeper with this pilot program. Keep going deeper, Indiegogo.

BlogtorWho’s Doctor Who Episode Commentaries

iTunes – BlogtorWho Doctor Who Episode Commentaries are getting lots of love on iTunes

My Comment

Conventional thinking would say loudly that I should not be promoting BlogtorWho because Blogtor is competition for my and Yomar Lopez’s Timey Wimey Tea Time podcast. I disagree. Because Doctor Who belongs to the world and the space is large enough for a thousand podcasts about Doctor Who. Or anything else.

I enjoyed BlogtorWho’s coverage of the Robot of Sherwood and I think you will too. Their explanation of Robinhood as a robot explains the problematics of the script in the face of the cut scenes.

This week and other Social Media DOHs

Silence, Series 8 Episode 4 of the Doctor Who television saga seemingly plunged into the heart of darkness but ended with certain retreat, cowardice and false consciousness. The Doctor and Clara travel to the end of time where Orson Pink mans a time travel experiment gone wrong, but little explanation and description is given about the desolatations of the end. John Hagee, however, has an interesting take on an end of sorts.

Likewise, there is no explanation of Rufus Pink’s monster under the blanket. And despite the Doctor’s socratic method, the Doctor fails to uncover the most hidden species (or creatures) in the universe. Last but not least, Clara attempts to dispel any dark forebodings with her, perhaps, childish reassurances. All of which reveals a certain dishonesty and closed mindedness of pseudo-scientific thinking and imagination for which Einstein and Newton (among others) had certain contempt.

Yomar and I will be talking more about these things in Episode 5 of the Timey Wimey Tea Time podcast on Saturday at noon ET on All Games. You can also participate in the live experience at Twitch at the same time.

Darkness creeps across the face of our little planet. President Obama prepares to send American soldiers to the Middle East and Africa. But where are the hearts of all the other peoples and nations?

Writes CBN News Middle East Bureau Chief Chris Mitchell:

Over the past week, the army of ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria), also known as IS (Islamic State), swallowed up swaths of Iraq like a pervading darkness.

For better or worse, curation, conversation, intelligence, humanity, curiosity, intense value and cunning are at the heart of social. If you can’t bring three out of seven, social is going to be a casual experience for you. Blog Soup is a exercise in both social savvy and social media DOH. You can learn from it. You are free to imitate the format and steal the title for your own purposes and ambitions. Hat tips to me would be appreciated but they are not necessary. The words in my blog soup are copyright by me. Just email me if you want to use my blog soup on your own blog.
Feel free to recommend a post or other kind of illuminating share to me. For inclusion in my blog soup. Do not recommend your own stuff unless you are doing awesome, epic or legendary things that will amaze me. Or if no one knows who you are AND you have important ideas to share with the world.
