Playdom has never before alienated more of its customers than with it’s latest PVP Tournament Seasons in the Marvel Avengers Alliance browser game. The problem is that the tournament awards (a good thing) have made players feel more disenfranchised than ever before.

Because less than 1 percent of many millions of players have any kind of chance of getting the good stuff. Read the rest of this entry »

Marvel Avengers Alliance DeadPool Season

Editor’s Note:

The last two weeks have been hell. I’ve been working like a mad man on my science fiction story about the end of the world (and everything) while trying to keep up with the Marvel Avengers Alliance game – shooting for DeadPool and doing Spec Ops for two accounts. And then there are all the other appointments I kept – as a father, lover and friend, as a member of the Omega guild, various blogging communities, and online strategy discussions, AND, last but not least, as a techno-bohemian.

Oh – I also turned 43. Feel free to congratulate me in the comments…

New PVP Tournament Reward System

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Marvel Avengers Alliance: PVP: NEW pvp Season Rewards

There’a a whole lotta confusion about the new PVP tournament reward system on Marvel Avengers Alliance. Most players are ready to give up. Let the quitters quit – because this is going to separate the brave from the limp.

Those who do not have DeadPool at the end of the tournament season – let them curse the stars!

Marvel Avengers Alliance: Admantium League

How to get DeadPool?

It’s not impossible!

At the end of the tournament season, players will receive rewards for their League rating and all inferior Leagues. See the details on the PVP interface in the Marvel Avengers Alliance game.

The new tournament rewards system is not based on the PVP leaderboard ranking system. You don’t have to be a top 10 PVPer to get DeadPool. I’m currently ranked somewhere between 30 and 50 and I was just promoted to the Adamantium League.

You do have to PVP lots- that much is obvious. And you do have to win a lot of PVP fights. But I’m betting that your PVP losses are not a serious stumbling block – unless you never win any PVP fights.

Things are unclear and ambiguous about how many PVP fights you need to win per day to get into the Adamantium League and stay there. I’m shooting for 30 wins per day – more or less. In other words, if you win 30 times and lose 20 fights per day, I think that you are very likely to get DeadPool and all the other prizes.

That’s how to get DeadPool. I hope.

If my theoretical model changes OR contrary facts come to light, you’ll get an update in a subsequent issue of The Hero School Review.

PVP is hell

How to PVP

Most players have avoided PVP up to now. Because it is hell. It is unfair. It is brutal. And the only reward was glory.

The rewards are now tempting, but PVP is still hell. And hell – just so you know – overflows with evil, agony, and despair.

Duh!

Enter into the Inferno

All ye who enter here, give up all hope.

-Dante

PVP may be hell, but the descent into hell is simple. Just as it really is.

1. Win PVP fights

2. Minimize fight losses

How to win a fight in hell

If your best is not good enough, do the best of a better man (or woman).

– The Devil, Supernatural

Winning is not obvious in hell – because hell is just cunning like that.

But if you are going into hell, be a bad ass!

Here’s some recommendations if your agent is level 30 or above:

1. Your PVP team must be all level 12 heroes

2. Your PVP bonus items should not be less than a total of 900 PVP bonuses each

3. You have at least three level 10 heroes (or above) in each class represented by the heroes on your PVP team.

4. The heroes on your PVP team may not be your favorite heroes, but they must be the best heroes you got. If you don’t know who’s great, you’ll figure out soon enough.

5. Losing is the fastest path to learning and adapting to the evils that await you in ambush.

6. Equip the best gear and uniforms in the game – or get them fast

Do you have a few of the new Phoenix Five uniforms? If not, learn about them here.

How to minimize losses

If you are going through HellDON’T STOP!

– Winston Churchill

In other words, keep on keeping on. This excellent advice applies to love, war, loss, defeat, office cubicles, and dark nights, liberally.

The most important thing about PVP, in fact, is minimizing your losses. Losses are inevitable, unavoidable, and guaranteed. As they are in life. Mistakes happen and we love to make them.

Here’s some wisdom:

1. You can not minimize losses by seeking fewer and less frequent engagements and fights. Seek more engagements!

2. You can not minimize losses by avoiding a fight and surrendering to defeat at the sight of the enemy. Don’t reload or refresh! Learn from a fight that you know you will be losing.

3. A great opponent that owns you more than three times is the best of teachers. Seek them out, enrage them, and learn faster through each brutal and demoralizing defeat.

4. No win is ever guaranteed. The fight rules are unpredictable – some of the time.

Do not despair when an inferior opponent defeats your PVP team with extra turns they should not have. Or by doing damage to your heroes that is unimaginable.

5. The team, equips, and uniforms for the quickest killing may not be the best team, equips and uniforms for when you are offline and the AI is at the wheel

6. There are no rules in Hell. Nor fair play. But your Mommy still thinks you are the bestest.

Duh!
